Story

Words and Music by Timothy Suckow, written January 2014.

Written after viewing an episode of Huckabee wherein the host interviewed two sisters who had escaped persecution from ISIS because of their faith. They were given a choice: deny Him or die.  They did not deny Him, and yet still survived.

Uses imagery from Acts 16.

The first Contemporary Christian song written by Timothy Suckow.

Lyrics

Sisters living in a Mideast nation, worshiping the God of all creation
Encouraging neighbors in the underground, showing them how the lost can be found
Put in chains for sharing the love, Jesus is the One they want to speak of
Offered a choice: deny Him or die; joyful in jail to Him they cry

(Acts 16: 19-26)
Though our hands and feet may be bound, through You only true freedom can be found
Let our words be heard through this prison cell
Praying and singing hymns to God, the warden and household all were awed
For a quake made all shackles to fell down to the ground

Near and far it can be found persecution of servants of God abound
Let us continue with our onward push fanning the flames of this burning bush
All through the world the struggles increase, some are killed and some are freed
Through good times and bad there is one thing I know
Jesus is with us wherever we go (Matthew 28:20)

Though our hands and feet may be bound, through You only true freedom can be found
Let our words be heard through this prison cell
Praying and singing hymns to God, the warden and household all were awed
For Christ closed our open door to hell

(Revelation 6:9)
How long O how long will it be?
When Jesus will come back
to judge the evil one
and the world will know the truth?

Though our hands and feet may be bound, through You only true freedom can be found
Let Your words be heard through this prison cell
Praying and singing hymns to God, the warden and household all were awed
For a quake made all shackles to fell down to the ground
Down to the ground
Down to the ground
